At Southwest Properties, we believe that an essential part of our success is an emphasis on people as much as places. From our relationships with tenants to our alliances with construction resources, we deeply value our role in developing for the long-term in every possible way. This entails a respectful, “hands-on” approach to construction, management and maintenance of all Southwest Properties — an approach that has led to a record number of lease renewals and high occupancy levels, as well as a solid reputation formed by over 50 years of experience.

Driven by a strong sense of responsibility to the Halifax region, Southwest has always kept community enhancement as a key focus of its projects. Chairman and CEO Jim Spatz continually seeks under-performing properties in order to create new revenue streams and employment opportunities. In addition, Jim has set incredibly high standards for his entire team, such as innovative design solutions, tenacious attention to detail and dedication to only the best products and services. This “entrepreneurial spirit” is particularly evident in our Bishop’s Landing project.

As a result of our efforts, Southwest Properties has more than doubled in size (net income and revenue) over the last ten years. Likewise, our number of employees has risen to over 100. But the number of which we are most proud concerns our customer service rating, which now reflects 93% approval. By consistently increasing customer satisfaction — and by truly valuing our relationships — Southwest Properties is moving forward with utmost confidence. Confidence that our long-term approach is indeed the right one.
