Name Announced for Condominiums on South Park Street

Halifax | Monday, July 28th, 2014

Southwest and Streamliner Properties have selected the name for the condominium component of their mixed-use development on South Park Street in Halifax. The condos will be called Pavilion at South Park, paying homage to an element of history from the Halifax Public Gardens.

The ornate wrought iron Pavilion gates that serve as the main entrance to the Halifax Public Gardens date back to the 1800s. In 1890, the gates were purchased from the Saracen Foundry in Scotland for the Arched Pavilion Entrance that was located halfway between Sackville Street and Spring Garden Road. The gates were later moved to their present day location on the southeast corner of the Gardens in 1907. *

“I love the crisp, clean name that ties the building to the historic Public Gardens directly across the street,” says Jim Spatz, Chairman and CEO for Southwest Properties. “When you walk through the historic and welcoming gates of the Public Gardens, you enter a well planned and meticulous urban oasis. Similarly, when an owner opens the door to their home at Pavilion, they will enter a residential oasis within the city. One that has been thoughtfully designed and crafted.”

The Pavilion condominium building will take shape on the corner of South Park and Sackville overlooking two recognized historic sites, the Public Gardens and Citadel Hill. The condos will offer the finest detailing, finishes and unit amenities. Best of all, it will be home to the YMCA’s 70,000-square-foot centre for community. The multi-level facility will include an aquatic centre, gymnasium, indoor track, plus fitness areas and program studios.

“We look forward to working collaboratively with our development partner and the YMCA of Greater Halifax | Dartmouth in realizing this milestone development,” said Spatz. “This is an exceptional opportunity for us and for anyone ready for an exclusive living experience.”

“We are very excited about our second project with our partner, Southwest Properties, in Halifax,” said Alan Greenberg, Chairman and CEO of Streamliner Properties. “This will be a wonderful place to call home, in a prime Halifax location, and with an important community partner – the YMCA. We are thrilled that we have the opportunity to participate in developing this new landmark in Halifax.”

Complete details on the overall project will be revealed over the next few months. Expected completion date is schedule for late 2017 / early 2018. Pavilion is in the pre-sale registration phase.
